Since I started teaching officially, I have found it to be a constant exercise in modification, accommodation and revision; but I have had a blast discovering teaching (ish). I definitely don't have it all figured out. In fact, I don't expect that I will be anytime soon. Nevertheless, I do think it valuable to capture the process. I have had at least five days in the last three weeks in which I came home thinking to myself "Man, I should really write that down". So here it is.
My journey, as a teacher...ish.
"We shall not cease from exploration,
and the end of all our exploring
will be to arrive where we started
and know the place for the first time."
T.S. Eliot
"No man ever steps in the same river twice,
for it’s not the same river
and he’s not the same man."
Heraclitus
"It's good to have an end to journey toward;
but it's the journey that matters, in the end."
Ursula LeGuin
I think its really important to remain a learner when a teacher. I model curiosity, engagement, exploration, research, and wonder. Such a fabulous vocation, always challenging, always changing.
